Final Call: Healthy Homes deadline is here. Are you ready?

From 1 July 2025, every private rental property in New Zealand must fully comply with the Healthy Homes Standards. No more extensions and no more grace periods. 

At Harcourts, we’ve been preparing for this for years and we’re at the pointy end now. If your property is not fully compliant by the deadline, we simply cannot continue to manage it. That’s not a threat - it’s the law.

If you haven’t had your compliance assessment done, or if you’ve been sitting on a "plan" with no followthrough, time has officially run out. Most trades are already booked weeks in advance and suppliers are under pressure. Delays now could mean your property sits vacant or worse; becomes unmanageable under the Residential Tenancies Act 1986. 

Your property manager will be in touch if there are any outstanding documents or work required because from 1 July, non-compliant rentals are off the table.
